It would benefits students greatly if they could review the vocabulary on linguascope as well, by going on the linguascope website, under “beginner”, “mon environment”, and finally “les pays” and completing the assignments there.

Students will also get a copy of the simplified version of the book next week and watch the following video :

French snow day homework Grade 3

Dear Parents,

While we usually do not assign homework for French, Friday is a day students have French class. It would therefore be beneficial for them to continue working on their vocabulary related to physical descriptions, “Description du visage”.

Students should be login into linguascope, go on “beginner”, then “moi et ma famille”, then click on “Desciption du visage”. They should complete all the activities there. They can also review other vocabulary sections that have been covered until now.

Wishing you a wonderful break.

Grade 1 Hisar and the weather

This week, Hisar students looked for Istanbul on the map of Turkey. They then searched for cities beginning with an A. They then looked at yesterday, today and tomorrow’s weather conditions at the cities of their choice. This enabled them to reinforce their understanding of the past, present and future tenses by using suffixes such as “bulut-lu, bulut-luydu, bulutlu olacak“.

EY5 Hisar and body parts in Turkish

As we start our new unit about parts of the body, eager EY5 students identified different body parts through the song “Üç Kulaklı bir adam”, then went on to find the words matching the picture cards. There were quite a few laughs when they tried to identify the beginning sound / letter of each body part. While working on the smartboard, some very comical body parts such as “barmak”, “darmak” or “iyak” came up. However, they were all able to find and write the correct letter.

This week, Grade 2 were learning the names of vegetables in French. They then decided to build their vocabulary further by looking for more vegetables. Once each group creates their own lists, they will “make” a French vegetable alphabet soup. By writing the first letter of each letter, they will also review the sounds of the alphabet and identify which other words start with that letter. For instance, if they added broccoli, they could say “bleu”.
